The Struggle Of Not "Being Enough”Why Is It So Hard To Believe In Yourself?
She Believed She Could And So She Did”.
The first time I saw this quote was on the wall of my middle child’s, school classroom wall. This pretty much sums up the incredible teacher that my daughter had during Year 4 at Junior school. Unfortunately for us Miss Pain, believed in herself so much, she got a job mid-year in a fancy school in America. Reach for the stars Miss Pain!
My point being, that regardless of her early exit, these young girls had these powerful words staring into their innocent and influential ten year old eyes, every single day at school.
So why is it some people have so much Self Belief? Is it nature, is nurture, or perhaps that magical combination of the two?
It always amazes me when I read an interview on an extremely successful person, who then speaks and shares of Self Doubt and Imposter Syndrome. These interviews are not rare, in fact, it seems many high-profile people experience feelings that they’re Not Good Enough.
It appears the difference is that they just do it anyway, despite the inner dialogue of being undeserving, or the repetitive whispers, “You’re not capable of this, or talented enough for that”. These high achieving people who claim to understand the feelings of “lacking confidence” choose to ignore it, and give it a go anyway.
This brings me to consider perhaps they have a deeper sense of inner knowing, they release that it’s just noise, its just chatter. Or maybe it’s a mindset of if you don’t try, why then you’ll never now.
